One of the first things we like to do when setting up a new Microsoft 365 tenant for a client is to set up their internal branding. The customisation available through the 365 suite allows companies to create a cohesive online experience that fits with their culture and overall brand.
In a world where remote work is becoming the norm – this is getting pretty important!
Microsoft 365 login page
Displayed during sign-in from any internal member or invited guest (external Teams member, someone accessing a shared document via OneDrive, etc). The login page is also customisable based off the users browser language, making life easier for companies working with people across the world.
The company branding available for the login screen include the background, logo, customisable username hints and sign in page text, as shown above.
Ideally for the background, there would be no ‘hero’ content in the centre of the image due to the login dialogue location – we see this one often!
Microsoft 365 login page image requirements
Background: 1920 x 1080px
Ensure you don’t use an image with the main hero in the middle as this will be covered by the login dialogue.
Logo: 280 x 60px
Additionally you can set you own username hints and sign in page text. This is a great spot for your company tagline, or just something fun as we’ve obviously done 😉
Microsoft 365 custom theme
Within the 365 Admin Centre, you are also able to update the theme colours to suit your company branding. This is displayed as the header during Microsoft 365 navigation and in Office Online applications (Excel Online, Word Online, etc), as well as applying a custom accent colour for links, buttons and other elements.
Themes can be assigned to different groups of users, and there are also options to make your theme dark mode compatible.
Custom theme image & colour requirements/ options
Logo: 200 x 48px
including an additional logo that can be used in dark mode
Colour optons:

- Text and icon colour (on navigation bar)
- Accent colour (throughout your 365 apps)
Hopefully this has given you a little inspiration to go in and update your company branding in your Microsoft 365 tenant (or ask us to do it if we haven’t already!).
Internal branding is a great way to bring company culture to the virtual world, and help your employees feel connected wherever they are.
